Zusammenfassung

Nach nun fast zwei Jahrzehnte währenden neuerlichen Erfahrungen mit marktbestimmten Wechselkursen muss sich die Weiterentwicklung von makroökonomischen Modellen bei flexiblen Wechselkursen nicht mehr aufgrund theoretischer Überlegungen und Diskussionen allein ergeben. Vielmehr reichen die verfügbaren Daten nun aus, um die Leistungsfähigkeit von Wechselkursmodellen durch Konfrontation ihrer zentralen Implikationen mit der Realität zu evaluieren. Fortschritte in der Makroökonomik flexibler Wechselkurse resultieren somit aus der Interaktion zwischen theoretischer und empirischer Forschung.
