Zusammenfassung

Die zentrale Rolle biologischer und physiologischer Prozesse für die Psychologie als Wissenschaft wurde schon von Wilhelm Wundt erkannt. Er veröffentlichte 1874 die »Grundzüge der Physiologischen Psychologie«. Auch die anderen »Gründerväter« der modernen Psychologie, der russische Physiologe und Nobelpreisträger Iwan Pavlov und der Amerikaner William James, haben biologische Prozesse als zentral für das Verständnis des menschlichen Verhaltens angesehen.
