Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel bietet einen Überblick über die wichtigsten homöostatischen Mechanismen, welche — hauptsächlich durch die Niere — Tonizität, Volumen und spezifische ionale Zusammensetzung (insbesondere H+-Konzentration) der ECF aufrechterhalten. Der extravasculäre Anteil der ECF umgibt die Zellen und von der Konstanz dieses »inneren Milieus« hängen die Lebensvorgänge ab (Kap. 1).
