Abstract
The anesthesiologist can be considerably supported, if information about the patient’s parameters and recent therapeutic actions is displayed in a clear and comprehensive way. The anesthesia information system AIS, developed for this purpose, is described.
Furthermore, additional support can be obtained by providing so-called intelligent alarms and therapy recommendations. These functions are provided by the knowledge-based system AES-2, which is currently under development. AES-2 is integrated in the information system AIS and draws its conclusions solely on the information assembled by the information system. AES-2 requires hybrid knowledge representation schemes that include adequate modeling of uncertainty.
