Zusammenfassung

Die Polysomnographie ist eine fortlaufende Registrierung von mehreren physiologischen Messgrößen im Schlaf, bei welcher elektroenzephalographische, kardiale und respiratorische Parameter, der Muskeltonus an den Extremitäten und die Körperlage aufgezeichnet werden. Zahlreiche pneumologische Erkrankungen treten ausschließlich im Schlaf auf (z. B. Schlafapnoesyndrom) oder erfahren eine deutliche Verschlechterung während des Schlafes (z.B. Erkrankungen der Atemmuskelpumpe).
