Das EEG in der prächirurgischen Epilepsiediagnostik

Zusammenfassung

Die Epilepsie ist mit 600000 bis 800000 Betroffenen in Deutschland eine der häufigsten neurologischen Erkrankungen (Elger u. Schramm 1993). Bei mindestens 20% der Epilepsiepatienten ist mit konservativen therapeutischen Verfahren keine zufriedenstellende Anfallssituation zu erreichen, oder die erzielte medikamentöse Anfallskontrolle wird mit intolerablen Nebenwirkungen erkauft. Für 10–20% dieser therapieresistenten Fälle (also bei bis zu 30000 Patienten in Deutschland) stellt die chirurgische Epilepsiebehandlung eine therapeutische Alternative mit sehr guten Behandlungserfolgen dar. Durchschnittlich kann bei 60–70% der Operierten langfristig Anfallsfreiheit erreicht werden (Tran et al. 1998, Zentner et al. 1995, Zentner et al. 1996).
