Zusammenfassung
Die meisten Kinder können große Schwankungen in der Flüssigkeits-und Elektrolytzufuhr ausgleichen. Es ist deshalb verständlich, daß verschiedene „Flüssigkeitsschemata“ existieren, die sich von Krankenhaus zu Krankenhaus unterscheiden. Je jünger und je schwerer krank die Patienten sind, desto enger werden die Grenzen, die eingehalten werden müssen, um Entgleisungen zu vermeiden. Die Besprechung des Wasser- und Elektrolythaushalts wird manchmal kompliziert durch unterschiedliche Definitionen der verschiedenen Begriffe, in Tabelle 4.1 sind deshalb die in diesem Buch verwendeten Definitionen aufgelistet.
