Zusammenfassung
Die Häufigkeit einer Neugeborenen(NG)-Sepsis beträgt — je nach Literatur — zwischen 0,1 und 0,5%, wobei vor allem die Frühform (sog. Early-onset-Sepsis) auch heute noch eine Letalität bis 50% aufweisen kann (Handrich 1991). Die Inzidenz der NG-Sepsis ist in den letzten Jahren und Jahrzehnten zwar gleich geblieben, aber die Letalität ist durch verbesserte intensivmedizinische Maßnahmen deutlich gesunken (Weisman et al. 1992). Dennoch bleibt die Todesrate auch heute noch hoch, wenn sich ein toxininduzierter Kreislaufschock und/oder eine persistierende pulmonale Hypertension (PPHN) einstellt (Shankaran et al. 1982; Linderkamp 1991a).
