Zusammenfassung

Bakterielle Infektionen können vor der Geburt, unter der Geburt oder post partum akquiriert werden. Der Neonatalerhebung Baden-Württemberg zufolge liegt die Häufigkeit aller bakterieller Infektionen in der Neonatalzeit bei 0,35% aller Geburten, bei 0,05% der Neugeborenen war die Sepsis auch blutkulturell nachweisbar. Bei den stationär in Kinderkliniken aufgenommenen Patienten hatten in Baden-Württemberg 1993 1,1% der Patienten eine Infektion mit positiver Blutkultur, ohne dieses Kriterium spielte bei den stationär auf eine Neonatologie aufgenommenen Patienten die Infektion bei 2,9% der Patienten eine wesentliche Rolle. Ähnliche Daten existieren aus anderen Bundesländern: Bei 2% in Niedersachsen, 4% in Bayern aller in Kinderkliniken aufgenommenen Neugeborenen wurde die Diagnose bakterielle Infektion anhand einer positiven Blutkultur gestellt (AG Baden-Württemberg Qualitätssicherung; Riegel u. Roos 1991a, 1991b).
