Single Stage Versus Two Stage Repair

  • Ahmed T. Hadidi

Abstract

Opinions about the best operative technique for patients with hypospadias have varied, evolving with time. Until the 1960s, the accepted methods for surgical management of hypospadias involved a two-stage approach. The most popular techniques were those of Thiersch (1869) and Duplay (1880), modified and popularised by Byars (1955), and that of Nove-Josserand (1897), subsequently adapted and popu larised by Bracka (1995a, b), Denis Browne (1949), whose technique was modified by Durham Smith (1973), and Cecil and Culp (Cecil 1946; Culp 1966).
