Der Blutkreislauf dient der Versorgung der Zellen, Gewebe und Organe des Körpers mit Nährstoffen, Sauerstoff, Botenstoffen u. a. sowie dem Abtransport von Stoffwechselendprodukten. Außerdem nimmt der Blutkreislauf die Lymphe auf, die ihm aus den Lymphgefäßen zugeführt wird.
