Abstract
Blood samples for determining colloidal and protein chemistry parameters are obtained in standardized manner without tourniquet [164] from the antecubital vein, with the subject remaining seated [219] and using 10 ml sterilized disposable syringes with large-lumen needles [4]. Then blood samples are immediately converted into serum [19] according to general guidelines and the serum samples are stored at −30°C in sealed polystyrene tubes [19] for later analysis. The blood samples obtained for the molecular weight distribution are decanted after centrifugation (15 min at 110g) and the supernatant dissolved with acetone and frozen afterwards at −80°C [51].
