Zusammenfassung
Auch in westlichen Industrieländern, die sich ansonsten marktwirtschaftlichen Prinzipien verschrieben haben, können wir bei der Allokation von Gesundheitsgütern, d.h. insbesondere medizinischen Leistungen, erhebliche Abweichungen von diesen Prinzipien feststellen. Anders als etwa bei Kühlschränken wird im allgemeinen weder die Entscheidung, eine medizinische Leistung (z.B. Blinddarm-Operationen) anzubieten oder nachzufragen, von souverän entscheidenden und mit den vollen finanziellen Konsequenzen konfrontierten Individuen bzw. Firmen getroffen, noch werden die resultierenden einzelwirtschaftlichen Pläne durch den Preismechanismus koordiniert.
