In diesem Kapitel werden Modelle für Kurven und glatte Flächen im Raum vorgestellt; dabei geht man von stückweise gegebenen Primärdaten aus; man trifft eine Vereinbarung hinsichtlich der zugrundeliegenden Funktion, setzt Interpolations- und Glättungsvorschriften fest und gelangt so zu interpolierten Sekundärdaten. So kommt man etwa zu einem digitalen Modell für das Gelände (Abb. 5.1).
