Abstract
The subject of this book is centrifugal gas cleaning devices, namely cyclones used as gas-solids separators (for ‘dedusting’) and as gas-liquid separators (for ‘demisting’). The physical laws governing the behavior of today’s modern industrial cyclones were firmly established more than a hundred years ago in the works of Sir Isaac Newton and Sir George Gabriel Stokes. Their work provided us with a basis for describing the forces acting on a particle traveling in a fluid medium.
