Summary
A total of 345 patients with spontaneous pneumothorax were retrospectively analyzed with respect to their complications. The risk of death during therapy — 27 of 345 patients (7.8%) — was significantly increased in patients with high age, additional diseases, conservative therapy, symptomatic pneumothorax, first manifestation, degree of pneumothorax, and the beginning of the study. There was no higher risk of a lethal outcome related to the sex, side of pneumothorax, or weight of the patients.
Zusammenfassung
345 Patienten mit Spontan-Pneumothorax wurden retrospektiv bezüglich ihrer Komplikationen analysiert. Das Risiko, während der stationären Behandlung zu versterben — 27 von 345 Patienten (7,8%) — war bei folgenden Kriterien signifikant erhöht: hohes Lebensalter, zusätzliche Begleiterkrankungen, konservative Therapie, symptomatischer Spontanpneumothorax, Erstmanifestation, Größe des Pneumothorax und Beginn des Untersuchungszeitraumes. Für das Geschlecht, die betroffene Thoraxseite und die Gewichtsklassen bestand kein erhöhtes Letalitätsrisiko.
