Abstract
Perennial herbs; rhizome creeping, irregularly sympodially branched; stem erect. Cauline leaves 2–3(4), arranged in 1/2 divergence, palmately lobed, the 1 or 2 basal leaves long-petiolate, large, the upper 1 or 2 smaller, sessile. Flowers 1(2), apical, bisexual, actinomorphic, hypogynous; sepals (2)3–4, petaloid or inconspicuous, purple or white, spreading or caducous; petals absent; stamens many, centrifugally or centripetaly initiated; carpels 2(1) or many, sessile, slightly connate below or free, many-or 2(–4)-ovuled. Fruits follicles, flattened laterally or fleshy and seemingly berries; seeds obovate, flat or globose, many or 2(–4), broadly winged on margin or nonwinged.
