Abstract
The object of this chapter is, first, to explore in greater detail the morphological types of dysplasia, carcinoma in situ and microinvasive carcinoma, their anatomical distribution and possible morphogenesis. Second, the morphology, fine structure and the genetic constitution of the cells is discussed in order to gain insight into the fundamental cytological changes of the lesions and their relation to the evolution of the abnormalities.
