Abstract

All kinds of electromagnetic wave generation and amplification in any frequency band are based on a phenomenon of instability. Assume that there exist some undisturbed, or basic state of a physical system. Consider the evolution in time of small deviations from this state. The system can be identified as stable, if these deviations do not increase with time, and in such a case the system cannot function as an oscillator or amplifier. In the opposite case, when the small deviations increase with time, the system is unstable, and it can be used as an oscillator or amplifier. In the further analysis we mainly follow [11,12].
