Zusammenfassung
Als Ergänzung zum IUPAC-Manual1, zu dem inzwischen eine deutsche Ausgabe erschienen ist2, sei der Ring Index3 empfohlen, der ausgezeichnetes und vielfältiges Anschauungsmaterial zur Anwendung der systematischen Nomenklatur bei Ringverbindungen liefert. Da im Rahmen des Index-Systems von Chemical Abstracts weitere Präzisierungen der IUPAC-Nomenklaturregeln vorgenommen worden sind, ist es unbedingt notwendig, beim Arbeiten mit diesem Referatorgan die sogenannten „Index Guides“ zu Rate zu ziehen, in denen unter anderem die Chemical Abstracts Benennungsgebräuche eingehend erläutert werden4. Die fundamentalen Regeln zur Stereochemie5, zur Benennung von isotopenmarkierten Verbindungen6, von metall- und metalloidorganischen Verbindungen7 sowie von Naturstoffen8 sind bisher nur in Form vorläufiger Regeln publiziert worden.
