Der Begriff Score stammt aus dem Englischen und bedeutet übersetzt »Punktzahl«. Ein Score ist der Versuch, eine komplexe klinische Situation auf einer eindimensionalen Skala abzubilden, d. h. auf eine einzige Punktzahl zu reduzieren.
