Zusammenfassung

Epileptische Anfälle können sowohl als Erstmanifestation einer akut auftretenden Hirnerkrankung (z. B. Enzephalitis, Venenthrombose, ischämischer Hirninfarkt, Tumor, Trauma etc.), als Gelegenheitsanfall (bei Hypoglykämie, Fieber, Alkoholentzug, Medikamenteneinnahme etc.) oder im Verlauf einer chronischen Epilepsie bei bekannter (symptomatisch) oder unbekannter Ursache (kryptogen) auftreten. Pathophysiologisch liegen Erregungs- oder Enthemmungsphänomene von Nervenzellen zugrunde, deren Ursache individuell geklärt werden muss.
