Zusammenfassung

Der Typ-I-Diabetes ist eine lebenslange chronische Erkrankung, die zwar nicht geheilt, aber durch eine sorgfältige ambulante Langzeitbehandlung so gut kontrolliert werden kann, daß die Patienten fast ohne Klinikaufenthalte ein relativ freies Leben führen können. Die Trias von Insulinsubstitution, diätetischer Behandlung und Stoffwechselselbstkontrolle bestimmt das tägliche Leben der Patienten und ihrer Familien. Daraus erwachsen zahlreiche Probleme, die ohne fremde Hilfe häufig nicht gelöst werden können.
