Zusammenfassung
Die vorliegende Übersichtsarbeit hat zum Ziel, die Epidemiologie der Ulkuskrankheit darzustellen. Entsprechend diesem Ziel wird zunächst der natürliche Verlauf der Ulkuskrankheit, ihre Risikofaktoren und deren Wechselwirkung mit der normalen Physiologie des oberen Gastrointestinaltraktes abgehandelt. Zuletzt beschreiben wir die zeitlichen und geographischen Schwankungen der Ulkuskrankheit. Zur besseren Orientierung und um den Zugang zu den einzelnen Gebieten der Ulkusepidemiologie zu erleichtern, wurde jedem Abschnitt eine Frage vorangestellt, die dessen zentralen Aspekt anspricht.
