Zufallsprozesse zu analysieren ist ein häufiges Problem — sowohl im wirklichen Leben („wie lange braucht man, um im Berufsverkehr zum Flughafen zu kommen“) als auch in der Mathematik. Natürlich bekommt man sinnvolle Antworten auf solche Probleme nur dann, wenn man es schafft, wirklich sinnvolle Fragen zu formulieren.
