Plasma Protein Changes in Protein-Losing Conditions

  • Chapter
Clinical Aspects of THE PLASMA PROTEINS

Abstract

Serum protein electrophoretic pattern of the protein-losing type is typically encountered when hypoproteinemia appears due to marked external loss of plasma proteins. These conditions are further subdivided into two groups, depending on the degree of “molecular sieve effect” influencing to the protein loss: 1) selective protein-losing type and 2) nonselective protein-losing type.
