Zusammenfassung

Proteine erfüllen mannigfaltige katalytische, regulatorische sowie strukturelle Aufgaben. Ihren Funktionen und ihrer Differenzierung entsprechend verfügt jede Zelle über ein charakteristisches Muster von Proteinen, das Proteom (Abb. 9.1). Der Spiegel jedes einzelnen Proteins ist veränderlich und ergibt sich aus dem Verhältnis der Synthese- und Abbaugeschwindigkeiten.Zudem können viele Proteine in unterschiedlich modifizierten Formen vorkommen, wobei einige der Modifikationen physiologisch reversibel sind und als Interkonversion bezeichnet werden.
