Zusammenfassung
Die naturwissenschaftlich begründete Medizin begann mit einer sorgfältigen Beschreibung der anatomischen Veränderungen bei krankhaften Zuständen durch Rudolf Virchow.Physiologie und Biochemie haben in unsererZeit das methodische Repertoire für eine molekulare Analyse von Krankheiten geschaffen. Heute zeigt sich mehr und mehr, dass die medizinische Biochemie durch eine genaue Kenntnis des Aufbaus eukaryoter Zellen,der Struktur,Funktion und Biogenese ihrer Organellen sowie der vielfältigen Wechselwirkungen mit anderen Zellen ergänzt werden muss, um biochemischen Veränderungen funktionelle Störungen auf zellulärem Niveau zuordnen zu können.Die Grundlagen hierfür wurden durch die Anwendung mrkroskopischer elektronenmikroskopischer physiologischer genetischer immunologischer und biochemischer Techniken geschaffen. Die moderne molekular orientierte Zellbiologie bildet mit der Entwicklungsbiologie sowie der Genomund Proteom-Forschung eine fruchtbare Grundlage für die Erforschung von Krankheiten und Entwicklung neuer Medikamente.
