Zusammenfassung

Unter Glaukom versteht man eine Gruppe von Erkrankungen, bei der ein gegebener Augeninnendruck die Sehnervenfasern schädigt. Langfristig kommt es dadurch zu (charakteristischen) Gesichtsfelddefekten und zur Sehverschlechterung. Diese Definition beinhaltet weder eine exakt definierte Obergrenze für den Augeninnendruck noch das Vorhandensein von Gesichtsfelddefekten.
