Zusammenfassung
Die Betreuung ophthalmochirurgischer Patienten stellt aus anästhesiologischer Sicht in vielfältiger Weise hohe Ansprüche an die Qualität der perioperativen medizinischen Versorgung. Häufig handelt es sich um Patienten an den Extremen der Altersskala und nicht selten um polymorbide Risikopatienten. Die Bedeutung der Erhaltung oder Wiederherstellung der Sehfähigkeit hat für die Patienten einen sehr hohen Stellenwert, so daß die Bereitschaft, das Risiko schwerwiegender perioperativer Komplikationen auf sich zu nehmen, ausgeprägt erscheint. Bei vielen kürzeren Eingriffen stehen Lokal- und Allgemeinanästhesie alternativ zur Verfügung und erfordern im Einzelfall ein sorgfältiges Abwägen der speziellen Risiken. Bei kurzen Eingriffen sowie in ambulanten oder tageschirurgischen Einrichtungen werden in der Regel aus zeitlichen und organisatorischen Gründen örtliche Betäubungsverfahren bevorzugt.
