Zusammenfassung
Der Informationsgehalt von Häufigkeiten ist gering. Trotzdem bietet die Analyse von Vierfeldertafeln, der einfachsten Zweiweg- oder Kontingenztafel, eine Reihe von Möglichkeiten. Wir können diese einfachste Zweiwegtafel auf Unabhängigkeit, Korrelation und Symmetrie prüfen. In diesem Kapitel werden diese und andere Prüfungen an Kontingenztafeln beschrieben, die für jedes der beiden Merkmale jeweils nicht nur eine Alternative, also 2 Klassifikationsmöglichkeiten, sondern mehrere aufweisen. Beispielsweise lassen sich Besitzer von Führerscheinen hinsichtlich der Altersgruppe und der Anzahl der Unfälle — 0, 1, 2, mehr als 2 — vergleichen. Andere Vergleichspaare, die ebenfalls zu sogenannten Mehrfeldertafeln führen, sind z.B. Schulbildung und Einkommen, Körperbautyp von Eheleuten sowie die Beurteilung des Eheglückes durch beide Partner. Ebenso wie eine Stichprobe nach zwei Merkmalsreihen kombiniert aufgeteilt auf Unabhängigkeit geprüft werden kann, lassen sich eine Reihe von Stichproben mit zwei oder mehr Ausprägungen auf Gleichartigkeit oder Homogenität testen.
