Abstract

Decomposition and photosynthesis are processes that account for a huge majority of the biological carbon processing on planet Earth. Photosynthesis has been studied extensively at levels ranging from biochemical to ecological. Relatively speaking, photosynthesis is well understood. Its importance to the functioning of the biosphere, as well as its agronomic significance, is well established. Furthermore, photosynthesis occurs in above ground tissues in organisms that are often large and aesthetically pleasing.
