Abstract

Patients expect modern surgery to utilize a minimally traumatic approach that involves the least possible risk and is conducive to rapid healing. They expect surgery to avoid complications and produce a cosmetically acceptable scar in a region of the body that is normally covered by a bikini. These expectations of surgery are consistent with the surgical approach used in implantation of the LINK® SB Charité™ Artificial Disc.
