The Screw Systems and Gear Design
This short chapter is comprised of two main themes. I try first to give an overview of the fundamental geometry of the general spatial involute gear set expressed in the mixed terminology of classical line geometry and modern screw theory. This begins at §12.05. I try next, beginning at §12.14, to summarize the imaginative steps that one might take to encompass in the mind’s eye the logic of the design argument. This second theme might be said to be a summary of the geometry, made in ordered retrospect, of the contents of this book; and this relates, of course, to the contents of §10.66.
