Abstract
The market for photovoltaic (PV) systems has undergone very dynamic development over the last two decades. Annual production has grown from 5 MWP in 1980 to 280 MWP in 2000 (Fig. 1.1). In the 1990s production quadrupled, which corresponds to an average growth rate of 17% /yr. In the last three years, more than 30%/yr has been reached [PV Report]. In total, more than 1 100 MWP PV capacity has been installed worldwide by the end of 1999.
