Abstract

Owing to the presence of numerous inadequacies in the old levelling network, the Department of Survey and Mapping Malaysia (DSMM) began to take definitive steps in early 1987 to prepare for a new vertical control for Peninsular Malaysia. The new Precise Levelling Network (PLN) was completed in 1998 with more than 5300 BMs planted. This paper gives an overview on the current status of the new vertical network as well as plans and preparations for its overall adjustment. Some preliminary results are also presented.
