Abstract
In this and the following chapters we consider transport of particles as a result of perturbations such as external voltages, magnetic fields, temperature gradients, and combinations of these. Particle transport results in electric currents and transport of heat via the charge and energy of the particles. The two corresponding physical quantities of interest are the electric current density j and the heat current density w. In general, both quantities contain contributions from both electrons and holes:
