Classical Greek Astronomy

  • Chapter
Understanding the Heavens

Abstract

The known works of Plato are many. They are available mostly because Plato, having created the Academy in Athens, had many students and many colleagues who made a point of transmitting the teachings of the old master. Plato’s works were actually transcribed and translated many times and into many languages. Obviously, we shall not even attempt to present here a detailed discussion of Plato’s life or his philosophy and its tremendous and lasting influence.
