Abstract

The aim of this chapter is to describe some theoretical methods which seem necessary for a better understanding of the text and formulas in Chap. 2. Moreover, Chap. 3 will prepare tools for understanding selected theories of the dramatic slowing down mechanisms which occur (Chap. 4).
