Abstract

This chapter provides a quantitative discussion of harmonics. Fundamentals of harmonics are discussed and preliminaries are provided — The Fourier series is presented. Characteristics of harmonics are illustrated. Equations pertinent to distortion measures are developed. The use of capacitor banks for reactive power supply and power factor correction is discussed. Resonance is explained.
