Abstract
No natural competence is known in Salmonella. Results in the 70’s showed that Ca2+ shock method was able to give transformation but at very low frequency. With this method, a clear cut dependence on the cell envelope composition was observed. These two draw backs are not present when bacteria are electrotransformed. Electrotransformation appears as a quick and easy to use procedure.
