Abstract
There are many prominent examples for inter-organizational cooperation:
-
The eight airline companies Lufthansa and SAS in Europe, United Airlines in the USA, Thai Airways International in Asia, Air Canada in Canada, Varig in Brazil, Air New Zealand in New Zealand and Ansett Australia in Australia have formed a global alliance with the name “Star Alliance”.
-
Pharmaceutical companies cooperate in research and development projects.
-
Software providers cooperate to guarantee compatibility for the customers and to build initial barriers against new competitors.
-
Programmers work together in open-source projects to develop software systems. The best example of this is the development of LINUX.
