Abstract

Up to now, research and development in motion control have focussed on the electrical drive only, without taking into account the potential of optimization of the total system consisting of the actuator and the mechanical and electrical components. However, due to these research activities it was possible to replace DC-machines by robust AC-machines which are controllable in torque and speed.
