Abstract
Niels Henrik was assigned space at the student residence, Regentsen, in September, 1821, and he swiftly moved into an attic room that he was to share with Jens Schmidt, a boy who had begun his student life a year earlier. About twenty of the most needy students lived at Regentsen, and it was here that Abel would stay, in various rooms, until his grand tour of Europe in the fall of 1825.
