Abstract
The generation of droplets and various droplet systems have been described in previous sections. For experimental investigations of droplet behavior measurement techniques are necessary, which allow to determine shape, size, velocity, surface tension, temperature, refractive index or other droplet properties. In this section some selected techniques for measuring these droplet parameters will be described briefly. Techniques have been selected, which are very popular or which have been used in experiments presented in Chaps. 5 and 6. However, numerous other techniques exist and are used. Depending on the experiment to be performed different variations of the techniques described here are possible. Therefore the descriptions are focused on the physical principles of the measurement techniques.
