Abstract
The dry ecosystems being defined by their localization, their characteristic features aridity and drought, and by their soils and vegetation, we shall examine in which way these environments are victims of a fundamental handicap by presenting an inventory of their limited resources, especially with regard to the search for sustainable development (as proposed by the Brundtland Report 1987), and by presenting an analysis of the specific constraints in which the hydrological and aeolian conditions oppose an optimum management of these resources.
