Summary
Wheat and tritordeum plants transformed with HMW glutenin 1Ax1 and 1Dx5 genes have been obtained with high efficiency. In both species, most of the lines analyzed so far show expression levels of HMW glutenin transgenes higher than or comparable to those of the native gene. Transgene copy number does not appear to be correlated with the level of expression. Dough functionality analyses (mixograph) are in progress to determine the effects of these subunits on breadmaking properties.
