Abstract

The purpose of this chapter is not to provide an introduction to HPLC, amply covered in a number of excellent books (e. g. Snyder and Kirkland 1979; Simpson 1982; Johnson and Stevenson 1978; Henschen et al. 1985; Poole and Poole 1991; McMaster 1994; Scott 1995) but to concentrate on the preparative aspects of HPLC and related techniques. At the same time, examples are provided which can be used as the basis for the solution of a particular separation problem. For a more extensive description of preparative LC, the reader is referred to other authors (Verzele and Dewaele 1986; Bidlingmeyer 1987; Ganetsos and Barker 1993; Unger 1994; Porsch 1994).
