Abstract

Let e(R 1,..., R k ) be the electronic contribution to the ground-state energy of a molecule consisting of one electron and k nuclei located at R 1,..., R k . It is shown that e(R 1′,...,R k ′)⩾e(R 1,...,R k ) if |R i ′ − R j ′| ⩾ |R i R j | for all pairs i,j.
