Abstract
Life requires energy. With increasing population, the supplies of nonrenewable energy sources have become scarcer, and competition for them stronger. Concomitantly, the importance of renewable sources has increased. They are a partial solution to the energy crisis caused by the rising consumption of energy. Their efficient use is under urgent investigation. The use of yeasts for production of ethanol for energy is therefore under investigation.
